Olli’s talks at the SSI Conference in London & at the University of Birmingham (July 2024)

In July, Olli gave a talk on „Pushing to the Limits: Effect of Uniaxial Pressure on the Performance of All-Solid-State Fluoride-Ion-Batteries“ (see https://dx.doi.org/10.1002/sstr.202300570 for more about the science behind it) at the Solid State Ionics Conference (https://ssi24.scito.org/) in London at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Center nearby Westminster Abbey. How he got there? By train of course, supporting sustainable travelling as recommended by University of Stuttgart. London is simply great (unfortunately, the English team lost the final against Spain on the day of arrival), and the conference was an amazing occassion to meet new and old colleagues working on batteries and fuel cells.

After London, Olli took the train to Birmingham giving a lecture on hexagonal perovskites (see https://dx.doi.org/10.1021/acs.chemmater.4c01789) and met Prof. Slater and Prof. Kendrick to discuss future and ongoing collaborations. Birmingham has more canals than Venice, and needless to say: more perovskite materials were first discovered there either! And certainly it’s always pleasure coming back to places where scientific journeys started!
